Jolyon overcame further technical issues this morning (4 March) to record the 8th fastest time at Barcelona on the final day of pre-season testing.
A hydraulic problem stranded Jolyon in the garage for two hours during the morning and limited the 25-year-old Southwater racer’s running around the Circuit de Catalunya, but a trouble-free afternoon allowed him to increase his day’s tally to 90 laps behind the wheel of the French outfit’s R.S.16.
A fastest effort of 1:24.859 on the super-soft tyres – almost 1.4 seconds quicker than his Thursday best – placed him eighth on the timesheets amongst the 13 competitors.
Jolyon said: "Overall it has been a positive day, again we lost a bit of running with a hydraulic issue this morning but the mechanics did a great job to turn the car around quickly. I managed to get a bit more performance running in which was good and also work on the set up. Overall, testing has been frustrating with the amount of mileage I've done but I feel we have covered all bases at least and I'm ready to head to Melbourne now!"
Jolyon's next appearance in the car will be at Melbourne for Free Practice 1 on Friday 18 March.
